Weber to Present at Café Scientifique
Dr. Larry Weber, Edwin B. Green Chair in Hydraulics and director of IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering, will be the speaker at the next Café Scientifique, Thursday, September 23, 5-6 p.m. The presentation will be at T-Spoons, 301 E. Market St., Iowa City.
Weber’s presentation will focus on the technical and non-technical elements of the state-wide floodplain mapping program, including discussion of map creation, FEMA review and public certification. Additionally, the institutional relationships between federal agencies, state agencies, and the Iowa Flood Center will be presented.
Café Scientifique is a meeting where, for the price of a cup of coffee or a slice of cheesecake, anyone can come to explore and debate the latest ideas in science, mathematics, medicine and technology. It is held at T Spoons in downtown Iowa City on the corner of Linn and Market on the third Thursday of the month from September to May.
