Sigourney News Review: Iowa Insurance Division and Interagency Partners Host Flood Awareness Community Meetings
Don’t Test the Waters Iowa—Community Forums by Iowa’s Flood Awareness Interagency Coalition
Des Moines, IA – Iowa Insurance Commissioner Susan E. Voss, along with interagency partners, today announced the schedule for flood awareness community meetings being held throughout Iowa this May and June. The schedule for “Don’t Test The Waters Iowa: Community Forums by Iowa’s Flood Awareness Interagency Coalition” is as follows:
§ Ottumwa, May 5, 6:30 p.m. at Indian Hills Community College
§ Council Bluffs, May 26, 6:30 p.m. at the Council Bluffs Public Library
§ Des Moines, June 8, 7 p.m. at the Des Moines Botanical Center
§ Cedar Rapids, June 15, 6 p.m. at Coe College Auditorium
The Iowa Insurance Division (IID), in collaboration with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Iowa Flood Center, Rebuild Iowa Office, National Weather Service, U.S. Army Corp of Engineers and U.S. Geological Survey, along with a number of local community leaders will present the “Don’t Test the Waters” public information program.
The presentation will educate residents on flood preparation efforts and resources available to them as well as the flood protection efforts that are being provided by the federal, state, and local governments. Following the presentation, a panel made up of national, state and local government officials and other flood experts will be available to answer questions from community members.
