I graduated from the University of Iowa with both my bachelors and my masters degree in 2010 and 2011 respectively. My undergrad was in civil engineering with an emphasis on structures, and my MS was in civil engineering with an emphasis on water resources. My thesis for my masters looked at how to measure sedimentation rates in lakes using radionuclides. I am now pursuing my PhD in civil engineering at the Iowa Flood Center. My research focuses on riverine flooding and mitigation through distributed storage. I have also looked into uncertainty in radar rainfall estimation. Before coming back for a PhD I worked as a Water Resources Engineer for the Rock Island District of the US Army Corps of Engineers for 10 years. When I am not working I like traveling, home improvement projects and spending time with my wife and dog, Waldo.
