I am an associate professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering; I am also an associate research engineer at IIHR—Hydroscience & Engineering and the Iowa Flood Center. I am a faculty affiliate of the Iowa Informatics Initiative as well. My research focuses on hydroinformatics, environmental information systems, scientific visualization, big data analytics, intelligent systems, and information communication. I have led the design and development of many novel research and operational information systems, including the Iowa Flood Information System, NASA IFloodS Information System, and Iowa Watershed Approach Information System.
