In cooperation with the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM), the American Planning Association (APA) presents the Planning Information Exchange (PIE). They will discuss their research into the economics of flood mitigation and associated best practices for communities nationwide. Shannon Burke, Manager of APA’s Hazards Planning Center will moderate as they discuss:
• New insights into flood loss avoidance based on a series of community case studies
• Their wide-ranging analysis into over 20,000 flood mitigation projects spanning all fifty states and Puerto Rico
• The business case for flood mitigation and what that means for local planning
