Ten years after the devastating disaster events of 2008, this year’s conference will focus on lessons learned, technology that has evolved to meet response and recovery needs, and actions taken toward a stronger, more resilient Iowa.
Director Witold Krajewski will present on the Iowa Flood Center’s growth since it’s establishment in 2009 and will talk about the innovative tools and resources available to all Iowans to help them better understand their flood risks and be prepared for flood events. In addition, Larry Weber, IFC co-founder and Executive Associate Dean for the College of Engineering, and Associate Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the UI, Craig Just, will present about the $97M Iowa Watershed Approach (IWA). Through the IWA, Iowans are working together to reduce flood risk, improve water quality, and enhance the quality of life for vulnerable populations.
