An Asynchronous Solver for Systems of ODEs Linked by a Directed Tree Structure

To provide flood forecasts, many complex mathematical calculations must be completed in a timely manner to provide decision makers and the general public relevant and useful information. This paper presents numerical algorithms for performing computations on models utilized by the Iowa Flood Center for the state of Iowa. Also included is a strategy for performing these complex calculations on multiple computers simultaneously to provide forecasts quickly.
