Daniel Ceynar

Project Engineer

I am a project engineer at the Iowa Flood Center. My work focuses on remote sensing, instrumentation design and deployment, and project management. Some current projects include the IFC’s ultrasonic stream sensors, the IFC rain gauge network, and the Mobile Radar Initiative, which uses four mobile parametric X-band radars to improve understanding of precipitation events.

I am a lifelong Iowan who fully appreciates Iowa’s four distinct seasons. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I pursue hunting, fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, and year-round camping. I especially enjoy canoeing Iowa’s numerous beautiful rivers. I am a long-term and enthusiastic supporter of canoe-based environmental clean-ups, as both participant and coordinator.
