Daniel Ceynar

Project Engineer

I am a project engineer at the Iowa Flood Center (IFC). My work focuses on remote sensing, instrumentation design and deployment, and project management. Some current projects include the IFC’s ultrasonic stream sensors, the IFC rain gauge network, the Iowa Watershed Approach, and the mobile radar initiative, which uses four mobile X-band polarimetric radars to improve understanding of the physics of precipitation events.

I am a lifelong Iowan and a University of Iowa graduate who fully appreciates Iowa’s four distinct seasons and the respective outdoor activities. I especially enjoy canoeing Iowa’s numerous beautiful rivers and am a long-term supporter of canoe-based environmental clean-ups, both as participant and coordinator. Beyond engineering, I have a truck mechanic, welding, machining, and construction background.
